Home Study Plan
Posted 3/17/20

Dear Westwood Families,

Thank you for your patience as we have been trying to find our way through our bizarre new circumstances. Below is a link to our school-wide general plan for home-based learning. The goal of this is to provide an overview of guidelines appropriate for all grades. You will see that the majority of these recommendations do not require access to the internet or an electronic device, or to specific materials or supplies. Your child's teacher and special education support providers will be reaching out to you directly - via phone, email, and/or regular mail, to connect with you about more specific grade level or individual recommendations for learning at home. Teachers will be available to support you and your child(ren) during regular school hours/days.

Westwood's Home Study Information  (paper copies of this plan will be available outside of school)

There is more than enough information on the internet to keep you and your family busy for years. Please try to keep it simple: Start by reviewing the information we have provided here, and by your child's teacher. Then, let your child(ren)'s interests drive other activities - having a specific focus will help you weed through the thousands of free resources currently available.

During the duration of the closure, be sure to check the MDUSD (most current) and Westwood websites for updates. I also encourage you to 'like' and 'follow' our Facebook and Twitter accounts. If you haven't already, you can also sign up for text notices by dialing 81010 on your smartphone and texting @westwoodel in the subject line. Through this tool, you may also message me directly.

Please know that grab-and-go meals will be available for ALL children under age 18 to pick up at El Dorado Middle School every school day, starting tomorrow, 3/18 from 11:00am-12:30pm.

Wishing you all well!

Nancy Klinkner, Principal
